They're really leaning hard into the "Maximus is a terrible person" angle, and I do agree with that, but I still think he's the good guy of the story. Whatever his motives, whatever his methods, he overthrew a tyrant and freed the slaves. Come on. You will not convince me he's the villain here.

He's amazed that he actually likes a person. |
The main thing that happens in this episode is that all the monarchists (except Crystal) find each other. Karnak's dumb side plot also gets resolved, in that the one drug dealer who murdered the other also gets murdered by some even worse people, and then the other moon people rescue him (and his new girlfriend). And his powers still aren't working right, apparently, except that they seem to work whenever he actually needs them, so who fucking knows. He still thinks he's useless though (even after he karate-chopped a bullet out of the air). Gorgon does very little except show up just in time to rescue Karnak.

There's a woman in the boot. |
NASA woman's still driving Black Bolt and Medusa around and is surprisingly OK with them kidnapping that woman (who was one of the team sent to Earth to kill them). She (the moon woman) dies this episode, after mildly admonishing Black Bolt over the whole slave thing and the general shittiness of his rule. She let's him off really easy and even seems like she would be OK with him continuing to be king for some reason.

Hawaii looks nice though. |
As I mentioned before, Crystal doesn't manage to meet up with the others - instead she goes swimming with her new boyfriend. This is twice now that a moon person has been shocked at the sight of the ocean but somehow known how to swim. Do they have swimming pools on the moon? Do these rich arseholes have swimming pools while their slaves live in filthy holes in the ground? Seriously, fuck these people.

She's fine. |
Auran, who was apparently dead, wakes up because she's got some kind of Wolverine-style healing power. So she takes the evil scientist hostage along with Black Bolt's friend from jail. And she's still got Mordis with her, and a woman who can control plants I think?
And there's a group on the moon who oppose Maximus and want Black Bolt back in charge. And conveniently for them, Maximus's plan isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped so he's having to wing it a bit and hold off on some of his promises, and of course that's going to make people hate him and want to be slaves again, I guess.

And he's got a weird head. |
Aside from wanting us to side with the oppressors rather than the rebels, the biggest problem this show has it's that it's slow. Nothing really happened in this episode. The two love interest side-plots with Karnak and Crystal seem utterly superfluous, and all the business with the drug dealers even more so. If the writing was good, if the characters were likeable, it might be entertaining anyway. But I don't like any of them. They're all shit. I agree with Maximus, but I don't like him. Karnak's deliberately abrasive. Medusa's an arsehole and Black Bolt's mute. Gorgon can talk but he has nothing interesting to say. Auran and that Joss Whedon looking guy are still around, but I can't tell you anything about either of them. Mordis has potential, but doesn't really get enough time. And since we know the monarchists are going to win, the whole plot feels like a pointless waste of time.

Still a dick. Still right. |
