Star Trek: Discovery - Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1

What an absolute nothing of an episode. What a complete waste of time. It's all setup for the last episode, and we already know what's going to happen. You can't convince us that Spock is going to get stranded in the future forever because this is a prequel; we know that doesn't happen. We know that Discovery ends up in the future, and there are no crew on board because you literally told us that in Calypso. And nothing actually happens in this episode.

Number One's back. She doesn't get to do anything because nothing happens in this episode but she's there.
Practically every character who's been in the show (aside from Mudd) shows up to be all emotional about the thing we know isn't going to happen (Michael and her pals getting stuck in the future) and that's it. We also see some of the Enterprise and its crew, which is a thing that happens. Technically.

Did you want to see that alien from Runaway again? Well here she is.
There's a lot of technobabble to justify why blowing up the Discovery didn't work (oh yeah, that didn't work - which we knew it wouldn't because of Calypso) and why Michael has to go into the future with the ship, and then a bunch of people volunteer to join her. And I'm not sure why they're allowed to, but they are. And I just don't give a single shit because I know they're going to come up with some other solution in the next episode and no one's going to get stranded in the future.

The Enterprise is startlingly red.
This episode was really Doctor Who-ish. Like, it's that exact thing Doctor Who does where there's a lot of technobabble and panic and then you know at the end the Doctor's just going to wave her magic wand and fix everything and there'll be no consequences for anyone. It's just bad writing.

Still want them to switch to these uniforms instead of the terrible Discovery ones.
