Star Trek: Discovery - Through the Valley of Shadows

Red Angel; time crystals; Michael Michael Michael; Klingons. There. You're all caught up. Another bad episode that wasn't worth watching.

Off-duty crew interactions? Hell yes! Pity this scene only lasted about four seconds and was really badly written.
They need to get a time crystal I guess, and Voqler is like "Oh, I know where they've got tons of those - that monastery where I left my son. I have a son btw." so they call up L'Rell (Ruler of the Planet Omicron Persei 8 Qo'noS) and she gets them an invite, only not really 'cause she doesn't have any authority there because it's under the independent rule of the monks. So she really didn't need to be here at all.

But if she hadn't been in this episode we might not have gotten to see whatever the hell this is she's wearing.
Pike goes down there and meets a monk who turns out to be Voqler and L'Rell's son all grown up because of the... sigh... time crystals. And he's being all spooky and saying like "watch out, these time crystals will fuck you up" and Pike's "doing it anyway", and Pike touches the crystal and sees himself in the future in that stupid beeping chair from The Menagerie.

I'm disappointed they didn't use the original footage again like in the Talos episode.
The monk tells him that if he takes the crystal then his future will be set but if he leaves it then he still has a chance to change it. It might have actually been interesting to have him choose to leave it, since we already know he's headed for the beeping chair anyway, so it would have indicated that he'd fucked up. But no, it's just tying it into the old series for no reason. He takes the crystal and heads back up to the Discovery.

"Weren't you just a baby?" "Time crystals." "Oh, OK. That checks out."
Meanwhile, Michael and Spock go off chasing Control and come across a Section 31 ship that's ejected all of its crew into space. One of them is in a space suit and still alive though, and it's someone Michael knows (of course). So they all go back onto the ship to try to figure out what happened, or what control wants.

Not sure what Michael's planning on shooting since they know the ship's empty.
But it turns out the guy they rescued is being controlled by Control, and it tries to take over Michael because she's the only one who can possibly stop it because Michael is the most important person in the universe. There's a fight scene and Control comes out of the dude's body in the form of some bad CGI, which Spock kills by turning the floors magnetic. And then they go home.

I think I fought some of these in Lone Wolf.
Finally Michael makes the suggestion that everyone in the audience was thinking of last week; if we can't delete or transfer the data that Control wants (because of reasons) then we should just destroy Discovery. The data is on Discovery, so if we blow up the whole ship then the data is gone and Control can't get it. And everyone acts like this is a really dramatic thing and not the obvious solution that they should already have thought of. Also Jet told Dr Boyfriend he should get back together with Stamets, and I guess that's cured his PTSD or whatever.

Look at all these fucking time crystals.
