iMPACT! Victory Road

Overall rating: ★★★●☆☆☆

On the one hand, I want to give this show more credit because I wasn't really in the mood for it, so that certainly brought the score down. But on the other hand, how much credit do they deserve when they insist on trying to make me watch guys who were fired from WWE for assaulting their girlfriends and general arseholery? Do you know how many professional wrestlers there are in America who haven't been arrested for domestic violence? Hire some of them instead.

  1. Triple Threat (Steve Maclin vs. TJP  vs. Petey Williams)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Triple threats are overplayed. It's supposed to be this big raising of the stakes, but it happens so often that it's mroe often a disappointment than anything else.
  2. Fatal Five-Way (Black Taurus vs. John Skyler vs. Jake Something vs. Laredo Kid vs. Trey Miguel)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Some cool bits but no real story or stakes.
  3. Singles (Tenille Dashwood vs. Taylor Wilde)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Maybe I'm the weird one here, but I feel like they screwed up this storyline by making the supposed good guys actually worse than the supposed bad guys. The Influence are annoying, but Taylor and her friends are being mean to them for no real reason. If they'd just had the Influence being pushy and refusing to leave Taylor alone then it would be fine, but it's kind of the other way around. Tenille was actually pretty nice, in her own, self-absorbed and obnoxious way, and backed off quickly. But Taylor wouldn't let it go and actually escalated the conflict. That should make her the bad guy, but she's obviously no supposed to be.
  4. No Disqualification (Rohit Raju vs. Matt Cardona)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Still don't care about Matt Cardona. I liked him better when he was Zack Ryder. At least then he had a goofy catch-phrase and a distinctive finishing move.
  5. Tag Team (Bullet Club vs. FinJuice)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Bullet Club recruiting in iMPACT! seemed like a neat idea, but they haven't really gone anywhere with it. It's not exactly an invasion when they're just wrestling other NJPW guys.
  6. Tag Team (Moose & W Morrissey vs. Eddie Edwards & Sami Callihan)
    ★☆☆○☆☆☆
    Skipped.
  7. Knockouts Tag Championship (Decay vs. Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans)
    ★★★●★☆☆
This was the first match of the show I really cared about at all, and it was ok.
  8. Men's Tag Championship (Good Brothers vs. Rich Swann & Willie Mack)
    ★☆☆○☆☆☆
    Skipped.
  9. X-Division Championship (Chris Sabin vs. Josh Alexander)
    ★★★●★☆☆
I don't want to say this was bad, but it was really not what I was in the mood for. I'm kind of tired today; I don't have the focus for a slow, methodical match.
  10. World Championship (Ace Austin vs. Christian Cage)
    ★★★●★☆☆
    Good match, but predictable outcome.
