Marvel's Inhumans - Divide and Conquer

So this is episode three (or two if you can't the two-parter as a single episode) and it's done nothing to change my opinion of the two sides. The guys I'm obviously supposed to like are still wrong and the guy who's set up as the villain is still right.

Guess which one's meant to be the bad guy.
We see a flashback of Black Bolt and Maximus as kids; Black Bolt doesn't want to be king and Maximus does, but Maximus has no super powers so basically he's lucky he's not a slave. There's no way he's going to be king. I think we're supposed to see this as him being hungry for power or something, but even if he's doing it for the wrong reasons (which I'm not convinced he is) he's still doing the right thing.

Back in the present, Black Bolt's in jail because of all the crimes he did last episode. NASA woman's there (actually I realised this episode that she works for some analogue for SpaceX but that's not important) and trying to get in to see him, and there are some other mysterious people interested in getting to him as well.

A guy sitting around in jail not talking. Compelling television.
Medusa's found her way into town but she's far less entertaining than her husband. Her attempt to get money from an ATM by speaking to it doesn't work as comedy, but I don't see what else it could have been meant to be. The problem is, it makes no sense. How does she know what an ATM is (but not how it works) and why does she think it would just dispense money to her? She must be aware that she has no standing here.

Gorgon's made some friends and they've decided to help him save his king because Hawaii used to have a king and so they're the same somehow. It's real dumb. And Karnak's been captured by some small-time drug traffickers who argue about what to do with him but ultimately seem to decide to be friends. Also his power is not working right, possibly because he hit his head.

Scary?
Back on the moon, Maximus is still trying to convince Medusa's sister Crystal to publicly support him. She says she will, but then she doesn't and she gets her stupid CGI dog back and escapes. He also sends this Mordis guy down to Earth to help hunt down the royals. They act like Mordis is basically an unstoppable killing machine, but he kind of just seems like a dude? OK, a dude in a weird costume who can shoot lasers, but still. There's a fight but they fail to capture or kill Gorgon. Oh, and Maximus abolishes the caste system and frees the slaves.

Doggo still looks real dumb.
Medusa sneaks into some rich person's house and steals some food and clothes before finding a newspaper that has a picture of Black Bolt being arrested. He, meanwhile, has made a friend. The mysterious people who took an interest in him at the start called another prisoner, and this prisoner is now looking out for him. So I guess they're some sort of pro-Inhuman faction on Earth.

There's a fight in the prison yard and Black Bolt and his new friend (who turns out to be an Inhuman with fire powers) escape in a waiting helicopter. Medusa and NASA-woman show up (separately) just slightly too late and Medusa carjacks NASA-woman and makes her chase after the helicopter.

The "good guy" is the one with the gun.
So basically nothing's changed. Various pieces have been moved into place for things to happen next episode, and it hasn't been boring, but I'm not getting the information I want in order to understand things. Like, I really feel like they should have made some attempt to explain how the aristocrats aren't the bad guys. They clearly don't want them to be, but they seem to assume that if we're told that these characters are the good guys we'll just uncritically accept it. It's going to be really disappointing when Maximus ends up losing and everyone acts like that's a good thing.

I should give the dog a break. This guy's worse.
