Marvel's Inhumans - ...And Finally: Black Bolt

What a colossal mess of an episode. What a mess of a series. Absolutely nothing was resolved in an even remotely satisfying way. I knew from episode one that the bad guys were going to win, because the writers inexplicably thought they were the good guys, but literally everything about this ending was terrible.

"Sure. I'm a 'prisoner' here."
So Black Bolt still has Maximus, who's making some good points about how it's his own fault he got usurped because he was a terrible ruler, but Maximus still has the failsafe, and then he escapes anyway. So much of this show has just been stalemates and reversals of positions, you could probably cut at least half the show without making any difference to the plot.

"Oops, you got me. Bet I won't escape again in a few minutes."
The reversal continues with Karnak and Gorgon being captured and then also escaping, while Medusa goes to Earth to get NASA or SpaceX or whoever that organisation is supposed to be to help find all the Inhumans a place to live on Earth - and they can somehow do that. We never find out where that place is, either. And so she broadcasts a message to everyone on the moon saying that, basically, Maximus is a liar but Black Bolt will actually really do all the things that Maximus promised.

Everyone in the entire city can see this? Even if they're indoors?
It's a bit unnecessary anyway since Maximus's failsafe is flawed and is going to cause the city's protective dome to fail, so everyone has to evacuate to Earth regardless, but I guess the people believe her for some reason. Even though Maximus has already followed through on several of his promises and Black Bolt never showed any inclination to do any of this before.

Still the hero.
There's also the stuff about how bringing Gorgon back to life was a bad idea and now he's... angry all the time maybe? I couldn't really tell exactly what the deal was there. And Black Bolt reveals that there's actually some secret enemy that only he knows about who's going to come for them now, but even on this show no one believes that (he's telling the truth, of course, but I'm guessing we'll never hear any more about it because I doubt we're going to see a second season - I certainly won't be watching).

Gorgon angry! Gorgon smash!
Maximus also reveals that when they were teenagers he forged their parents signature on a document that the council had written saying that Black Bolt should have brain surgery to... get rid of his power? Or something? I seriously watched this scene three times and it was not explained why they wanted him to get brain surgery. It's especially confusing because in another flashback scene we saw one of the councillors telling Black Bolt about the secret enemy and it was suggested that Black Bolt only took the job of king because his power would be essential in fighting that enemy. So the council thought his power was essential, but also wanted to get rid of it? Anyway, Black Bolt saw the document and killed his parents, because that's what heroes do I guess.

Anyway, they evacuate the moon and Black Bolt seals Maximus in his secret bunker before bringing the city down on top of him, because this show is incredibly confused about who is supposed to be the villain. Seriously, that's real dark. Especially considering that the entire royal family has basically come around to agreeing with almost everything Maximus stood for. How are these the protagonists? Seriously, what the fuck? And that's it, series over, and good riddance.

He freed the slaves and we're supposed to think this is a just fate.
