Marvel's Runaways - Reunion

So there's a new Marvel show. I'm not a big fan of the Marvel shows (aside from Agent Carter, which was fantastic) or the MCU in general, and Inhumans was just terrible, but I'll give it a go.

They probably don't mean her any harm.
We start out with a girl who's run away from home being hassled by two guys speaking Spanish, which she doesn't understand, but plot twist, they're actually trying to save her from this weird cult van that drives up. They're just doing the worst possible job of it. Like, I don't even believe it. They'd have to know they're being extremely menacing. But then again, the girl asks the cultist "is this a cult" and she says "we don't use that word". Who would say that? If someone asks if your religion is a cult, you say "no"! "We don't use that word" may as well be "yes, definitely, we are absolutely a cult, would you like to join?" But apparently she's totally open to joining a cult 'cause she goes with them.

The blerd's family has the weirdest fridge.
But forget about her she's not important, because this show is actually about a group of teen stereotypes who used to be friends before their slavish devotion to their respective stereotypes forced them to hate each other. Also I think the Asian goth's sister died? Someone died. Anyway, their parents are all members of this charity/cult/secret society. Not the cult from the start, that seems to be a fake cult that one of the parents uses as a cover for the real cult. There's robes and sacrifices and a dude whose skin's all fucked up and might be in a coma or something?

Maybe he's a vampire? Morbius, the Living Vampire?
But that's about all we're going to learn about them so far because this show is about the teen stereotypes learning to be friends again. Also getting super powers because obviously, this is a Marvel show. The first one to get powers is the youngest one, whose stereotype, I guess, is "younger sibling". She's having what she assumes are really bad menstrual cramps, but turn out to be a sign that she's getting super strength. You know how these things go.

Super strength and glowing eyes.
But maybe the fundamentalist/cultist (#fakecult) already has powers? Because she always wears this bracelet that identifies her as a member of the fake cult, and as soon as she takes it off ehr arms start glowing. No one notices though even though she's in the middle of a crowded room, so maybe she was just hallucinating that? On the other hand, she collapses unconscious in the middle of that same room and no one notices that either. Until a couple of evil jocks see her lying there and immediately decide to take her upstairs and rape her. They don't succeed, but it's still insanely... direct, I guess? Like, it's not as though she's drunk or something, she is 100% unconscious, unresponsive. And a whole room full of people saw should have seen them take her. It strikes me as unrealistic in the extreme.

Is anyone seeing this? How is no one seeing this?
Anyway, the blerd had invited the whole teen stereotype gang over to his place (just like the old days before whatsername died), but they all turned him down. But they all end up showing up anyway after he sends them a picture of them all together. And that's when they discover the incredibly poorly concealed secret passage. The blerd touches a stack of coasters on his father's desk and it opens up the passage. How has he never seen this before? This is even less plausible than party scene.

Who keeps Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
Anyway, they go through the passage and see all their parents in their secret cult getup (red instead of white #fakecult) sacrificing the girl from the start of the episode. Or putting her into some weird glowy sarcophagus thing anyway. And the kids almost get caught but they get away and that's the end of the episode. This show is really dumb so far, but maybe dumb in a good way? I'm going to keep watching. Oh, and the youngest one found a monster locked up in her house. I almost forgot about that. I think she might have forgotten about that too. She didn't bring it up with her friends.

Also the Asian goth tried to do some witchcraft but it didn't work.
