IMPACT Multiverse of Matches

Overall Rating: ★★★●★☆☆

A little slow at times and suffering from a few technical issues: most notably microphones not being turned on before people started talking and some of the music not sounding right (I think maybe they were just picking it up from the microphones in the room instead of from the source). There was also a disappointing lack of crossovers, unless you count people who've already been on regular episodes of IMPACT recently, like Jay White. And Rehwoldt seemed to be a bit off his game on commentary. But mostly it was decently entertaining.

  1. Ultimate X X-Division Championship (Jordynne Grace vs. Chris Bey vs. Blake Christian vs. Vincent vs. Rich Swann vs. Trey Miguel)
    ★★★●★☆☆
Chris Bey is always very impressive, and I like Jordynne Grace, but to be honest this was a bit of a disappointment. I love Ultimate X as a concept so my expectations were probably a bit high, but it felt like there wasn't as much chaos or interaction between different participants as I'd have liked.
  2. Tag (Chelsea Green & Matt Cardona vs. Mickie James & Nick Aldis)
    ★★★●★★☆
Green and Cardona are great villains and this was a very fun match. I've basically completely come around on both of them since they turned heel and I hope they never try to be good guys ever again.
  3. Singles (Alex Shelley vs. Mike Bailey)
    ★★★●★★☆
This match was a bit slow at times, but Mike Bailey very fun to watch and it really picked up by the end.
  4. Knockouts Tag Championship Fatal Four Way (The Influence vs. Decay vs. Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans vs. Lady Frost & Gisele Shaw)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
I don't like multi-team tag matches, and with the ongoing Influence/Inspiration/Kaleb storyline this felt like a bit of a distraction. I got up to make myself a coffee while this one was on.
  5. Singles (Eddie Edwards vs. Ishii Tomohiro)
    ★★★●★★☆
Another slow one, but this one felt like it was slow on purpose. Edwards came out strong and seemed to run down as the match progressed, whereas Ishii seemed to be getting stronger as it went on, and then they both pulled out the stops for the finale. Very cool.
  6. Tag (Jonah & Josh Alexander vs. Moose & PCO)
    ★★★●★☆☆
This one would have worked a lot better as a fatal four way, I think. You've got the rivalry between Jonah and PCO, and the one between Josh Alexander and Moose, and I think they're setting it up so that Alexander can beat Moose for the title and leave him free to face Jonah after that, but it seemed like an inelegant way to do that.
  7. AAA Reina de Reinas Championship (Deonna Purrazzo vs. Faby Apache)
    ★★★●☆☆☆
Not a great match; mostly just here to set up another match. Not terrible, but only really worth seeing the post-match reveal. I do like that they haven't forgotten about Purrazzo and Rehwoldt's alliance even though he's only doing commentary now.
  8. Singles (Chris Sabin vs. Jay White)
    ★★★●★☆☆
A bit long and slow, but they're both very good wrestlers so it had its moments.
  9. Tag (Good Brothers vs. The Briscoes)
    ★★★●★★☆
Two great tag teams doing some great tag team wrestling. Very fun to watch. Until Bullet Club showed up to interfere, which wasn't surprising but was still disappointing.
