Marvel's Runaways - Refraction

I still feel like this show needs to pick up the pace a bit, but I guess some stuff did kind of happen in this episode. But then again, mainly just more stuff that sets things up for the future. Everything is always about to happen and nothing is ever happening. Big things that seem like they should derail the characters' lives just... don't.

Turns out the jock's dad was a dick as a young man too.

The first thing that happens is the jock's dad gets a message from the future - apparently he realised off-screen that his future radio thing was working and just has it set up and going now - telling him not to pick up the... fisticons? I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

Watch out for those fisticons.

Also the cultist's dad can heal people now and seems to be doing it specifically to piss off his wife? But the formerly old guy tells her not to worry about it because the church (#fakecult) isn't going to matter much longer anyway. So I guess he's setting her husband up to be at the top when the whole thing falls apart. Oh, and the formerly old guy knew the cultist's mum as a child, which makes their relationship just incredibly creepy.

Saving lives out of spite is... odd.

The other thing that happens was that the jock's dad was temporarily pleasant and cheerful but reverted back to angry and violent when the formerly old guy's DNA or whatever wore off. So he started beating up his son and then his wife shot him dead.

And he'd only just been cured of cancer too.

And the nerd's parents decided to send the little sister away so that the rest of the (real) cult wouldn't find out that she saw them doing the sacrifice and kill her. And the whole episode we had this countdown of the blerd hacking the encrypted video they stole but he wasn't done by the end of the episode so nothing happened with that.

Nerd's dad spilled some DNA on his arm, but he was fine.

The problem with this show is that someone died this episode and one of the kids is being sent away and they're supposedly about to get proof that their parents are murderers and I just don't have any faith at all that any of it is going to lead anywhere. Everything's just going to carry on and nothing is ever going to happen.

Isn't Gert the nerd? Who are Gert #2 and #3? What is this?
